An automated gateway only saves you time if it works on the wet Monday as well as the dry Friday. The good news is the list of jobs is short.
UpGate is a patented, solar-powered automated farm gate that lifts electrified bungy cords overhead. Farmers operate it from up to 100 metres away and use the same opening for vehicles and cattle.
The runner wheels sit inside the track where mud does not reach easily, with clearance around them so buildup does not bind.
If a gateway gets truly plastered, a pump up sprayer and a brush clean it out. Units on a dairy farm have run 2,000 operations over more than 18 months without jamming.
Do not add strands you do not need. Every extra bungy strand adds weight and slows the gateway, and most farmers find one strand enough.
Warranty is 24 months, parts only, covering defects in materials and workmanship when the unit is installed and maintained to the manufacturer guidelines.
Use the button on the outside of the unit to test operation without a remote. If a vehicle is too tall, open the bungy gate by hand with the handle.
